A Little Honesty, Please! Do you think a one-breed outfit is going to be honest about the value of other breeds? Of course not! They want to sell you what they have. If you want calving ease bulls, you can bet theirs are the best. You want growth? No problem. What about grid value? Shucks, they invented grids! But let’s be honest. No single breed can truly claim superiority in all traits. Breed difference exists, especially for carcass traits, and combining the right breeds under your management and environment can potentially add $100/cow/year in your pocket over straightbred commercial cows. That is $10,000 in a 100 cow outfit! Learn more about our Commiment to Excellence by viewing our Product Standards! |

SimAngus and Balancers are hybrid seedstock designed to simplify and optimize. You use them just as you would a single breed but with the benefits of hybrid vigor and ease of managing breed composition. They optimize many traits that are important to your bottom line including growth, mature size, muscling and marbling. And the tougher the environment, the greater the difference you will see in fertility, which reduces replacement heifer costs. If fact, the February 2007 issue of Beef Magazine has a impressive article about the Spade Ranch of Texas and their continually evolving cow/calf operation. The Spade Ranch has discovered in their 118 year existence, that SimAngus & Balancer hybrid bulls provide their operation with the greatest "ECONOMIC VALUE" available in the beef industry today! Click on the Feb. 2007 Beef Magazine Cover to read the article Don’t take our word for it. Read what leading commercial cattlemen say about MBA bulls that are currently working in their herds. |
“I wanted to see if there really was a lot of difference in the performance of my steer calves sired by composite bulls over those sired by my Angus. So, I weighed each group at weaning last spring and found that the composite sired calves were 109lbs. heavier on average than my straight Angus sired calves.” Todd Sickman, |

“The bulls I’ve purchased from MBA members do everything I need, right. They are great fescue bulls that are low input due to their ability to flesh easily. Furthermore, the calves are stout, growthy, and physically correct. I think my biggest benefit is the maternal influence these bulls are having on my replacement females. They are right-sized, fertile, & efficient!” Delbert Swartzentruber, |
What makes SimAngus and Balancers better than other hybrids? Simmental and Gelbvieh are maternal Continental breeds. They have a long history of selection for fertility with a balance of milk and muscle. These two breeds have also made the most progress in commercial acceptance by providing a more useful mature size, optimizing milk, and tools to improve longevity and carcass value. |

Producing marketable calves. Feeders and packers agree that pens of steers that are 70% Choice or better and 70% Yield Grade 1’s and 2’s fit consumers desires and that calves that are 50-75% Angus and 25-50% Continental not only hit those carcass targets but also excel in dry matter conversion and reducing the cost of gain in the feedlot. |
Cows need to fit the environment. When it comes to the harsh world of heat, humidity and fescue, nothing is more comforting than knowing your crossbred cows are strategically designed to handle this stress. Research proves what astute commercial cattlemen already know; those crossbred cows that fit your environment have 25% greater lifetime production compared to straightbred cows. |

We know the foundation of any breed's longevity is the success of the commercial cattleman. That is why we provide practical breeds that compliment each other and help cattlemen find the right balance of Angus and maternal Continental genetics to fit their environment and market. Problem-free cattle with wonderful dispositions and a commercial focus………that is the MBA Advantage.

We Build Athletes! If “fats are up” accurately describes your latest bull shopping experience, you may want to consider We are not in the business of overfeeding bulls with $4.00 corn to impress you with yearling weights that can only be obtained in a manner that is detrimental to the health and longevity of the bull. Furthermore, we will never mislead cattlemen by claiming that we "rigorously forage test" bulls on fescue pastures and then provide you with performance and ultrasound scan data that suggests otherwise! Simply grazing bulls between feedings does not constitute a forage test. Lastly, we do not put sub par bulls (i.e. "ratio makers") on test so that they positively skew the performance and ultrasound data of other bulls in that test group. Therefore, we will never boast about feeding 250-300 bulls and then only offer you the "BEST" 100 or so. Talk about buyer beware! |
SimAngus herdbull
We provide a System. Success demands simplicity and the easiest method of managing breed composition and optimizing hybrid vigor is with hybrid bulls. Raised on fescue, our SimAngus and Balancer hybrids are strategically designed to meet the needs of busy cattlemen by giving you the simplicity of one breed but the power of two. The resulting crossbred cows are more efficient and the calves are in high demand, giving you endless marketing options. Balancer herdbull
Systems Approach. As defined by the Beef Improvement Federation (BIF), a systems approach is an approach to evaluating alternative individuals, breeding programs, and selection schemes that involves assessment of these alternatives in terms of the NET impact on all inputs and output in the production system. This approach specifically recognizes that intermediate optimum levels of performance in several traits may be more economically advantageous than maximum performance for any single trait. |
